Brickfield kicked off their Welsh National Futsal League campaign this weekend and it is great to see clubs from the Welsh Premier Football League getting involved in the development of the sport. Brickfield’s experience may encourage more clubs to join the Welsh National Futsal League and help to grow the game in Wales.

Brickfield Futsal is part of Brickfield Rangers FC and they started their FAW Futsal Elite League (Welsh National Futsal League) Campaign at the Glyndŵr University Sports arena against a highly experienced & talented Saltney Futsal Club in front of over an impressive 62 spectators. The Bricky team, which was a team of an average age of 18 years old were extremely impressive despite the defeat as they showed heart, battle, desire and an ability to learn. What was more impressive was that this was their only 2nd Futsal match as a team after just 4 weeks of training too!

Brickfield Futsal Manager Andy Ruscoe ( Sponsored by Richard Hughes Jewellers ) stated ” I am over the moon with the performance of my young squad today. They have only been together for 5 weeks and this was their only 2nd ever match, and our 1st two matches have been against the best that this region has to offer! We went into the match with a game plan and targets to achieve due to our first match experience, we wanted to keep the score down and threaten as much as possible, which the lads implemented extremely well and the targets were overachieved as we only let in 11 thanks to Craig Morsey Morse and  his commanding experience.”

“The lads showed me today that this team has plenty of character, desire, heart & an ability to take instruction and learn. I am so proud of them and it gives us the confidence to build upon for our next game against Deeside Dragons. I want to thank our chairman Paul Hooson ( Sponsored by Twisted Image ) and Simon Sedgwick ( Sponsored by Dave Jones ) for coming to visit us today, who were both full compliments regarding our young squad. Even Director of Football Dave Norman was really impressed after being run ragged by SVG Football Federation CONCAF World Cup Qualifier Internationalist Brad Miguel ( who has 2 International Caps for his country ) at the heart of the Saltney Defence today.”
“These lads are a credit to our club and Futsal. Well done lads you were awesome let’s take this into our next game”
