Futsal Focus and the Irish FA organise Northern Ireland’s first Futsal Coaching Conference

The Irish Football Association has very ambitious plans to grow the sport of Futsal in Northern Ireland, below are a few points from their development strategy but you can download the full strategy from our research section:

  • Over 1,000 Youth Football coaches and teachers to have completed the Irish FA Futsal Introductory Award by 2020.
  • 400 coaches to have completed the Irish FA Futsal Level One Award by 2020.
  • 25 coaches to have achieved the Futsal UEFA B Licence by 2020.
  • Appoint male and female International coaching teams by 2016.
  • Facilitate a FIFA Futsal Coaching Conference for local coaches by 2017.
  • Establish a biennial National Futsal Coaching Conference beginning in 2018.
  • Establish a Futsal Study Group Scheme for grassroots coaches by 2020.

The association is now providing interested coaches the opportunity to take their Irish FA Futsal Introductory Award:

This attendance based award is aimed at volunteers, parents, teachers and aspiring or existing coaches working in the area of Grassroots Football that have a desire and the confidence to start Futsal programmes within their club and community setups. The course is 3 hours in duration, with both theoretical and practical content. Participants who complete the course will be presented with an Irish FA Futsal Introductory Award and resource booklet. Candidates should bring appropriate clothing and footwear for indoor lectures and indoor practical sessions. Candidates should also bring writing materials. Next Course – Thursday 11th August (Stranmillis University College, Belfast)

The Irish FA Level One: 

This assessed award is an important step to progressing the game of Futsal in Northern Ireland and further developing the knowledge of the game amongst grassroots coaches and teacher. The curriculum includes: Technical Instruction, Conditioning, Set Pieces, Goalkeeping and a Referee Award. The course is 3 days in duration (18 hours) with both theoretical and practical content. Participants who complete the course will be presented with an Irish FA Futsal Level 1 Award. Candidates are also required to submit 6 hours of logged coaching session plans. Candidates will be assessed during the course on topics included in the curriculum. Candidates should bring appropriate clothing and footwear for indoor lectures and indoor practical sessions. Candidates should also bring writing materials. Next Course – Friday 12th to Sunday 14th August (Stranmillis University College, Belfast).

Futsal Coaching Conference in Partnership with Futsal Focus

The Irish FA will be working with Futsal Focus to deliver a Coaching Conference for local coaches at the end of July.

The conference will take place at Lagan Valley LeisurePlex, Lisburn on Sunday 31st July from 13:00 to 17:30. The conference will feature practical sessions delivered by European Futsal experts and also provide participants with the opportunity to engage in a question and answer session.
